THE STOREHOUSE

The heart behind the Storehouse is simple: we believe the Church is called to be the hands and feet of Jesus & to care for one another.

The Storehouse is a place where generosity and need can meet. Through donated items (household items, toiletries, clothing, children’s books and toys, and other everyday necessities) — we want to make it easier for people in our church community to both give what they have and receive what they need. 

Our hope is that The Storehouse would be more than a place to pick up groceries or household items. We want it to be a practical expression of Jesus’ love—a place where people are seen, welcomed, cared for, and reminded that they are not alone.

The Storehouse is located at the Summit Church in the Summit Bay Area - there will be signs to help guide you!

DONATION GUIDELINES

✓  Please wash your clothing before donating it. No pet hair, dirty garments, etc. We do not have the means to wash donated clothes.

✓ We do not accept anything broken, soiled, stained or torn. Items must be in good condition. (We understand children’s clothing can become easily stained, if it’s in play condition we can accept it)

✓ We can only accept two large garbage bag sizes of donations per person each Sunday (due to space reasons & in order to ensure we have the time to keep up with the volume of donations every week)

WE ACCEPT

Clothing

  • Clothing (all ages, good condition)

  • New underwear or socks 

  • Shoes, hats, belts (in good condition)

Entertainment & Toys

  • Books, CDs, DVDs, Video games

  • Small toys (13″ or less), board games, complete puzzles

  • Clean stuffed animals

Electronics

  • Phones

  • Cameras

  • Charging cords (USB-C, USB-A, lightning)

  • HDMI, auxiliary cords

  • 3-prong extension cords

Home & Office

  • Cleaning supplies, paper towel, toilet paper

  • Office supplies & school supplies

  • Kitchenware & small appliances

  • Linens, towels, bedding (in good condition) 

  • Small home decor (less than 13 inches)

  • Christmas or Easter Decor

Sports & Outdoor Items

  • Camping goods

  • Garden materials

  • Sports equipment (golf clubs, ski boots, skates, gloves, cleats, etc.)

Miscellaneous

  • Personal hygiene that is new/unopened (ie. soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, etc)

  • Baby Diapers & Wipes (we accept opened boxes/sleeves of diapers)

WE DO NOT ACCEPT

Clothing & Accessories

  • Offensive, dirty, soiled, stained, immodest or damaged clothing 

  • Used underwear or socks

  • Dirty/damaged shoes or hats

Entertainment & Toys

  • Cassettes, VHS’s, Vinyls

  • Large toys (13” x 13” or bigger)

Furniture

  • Unfortunately we cannot accept any furniture as we do not have the space to store it. We recommend posting your furniture donations on the men’s/women’s summit facebook group pages to see if there is someone else in our church community who could use it.

Home & Office

  • Large kitchen appliances (e.g. stove, fridge, freezers)

  • Building supplies (lumber, doors, windows, bricks, tiles, insulation, linoleum, hardwired fixtures, etc.)

  • Vacuums, mops, humidifiers

  • Foot baths

  • Half burnt candles

PLEASE NOTE

  • We do make some exceptions to items on the “We Do Not Accept” list, please do not hesitate to email storehouse@thesummitchurch.ca and we can let you know if we can accept your item or not!

  • If we are unable to accept your donations after you have dropped them off (due to either not having enough space in the storehouse, or because it doesn’t meet our guidelines), we will typically bring the items to Out of Your Closet Thrift located in Sherwood Park. We trust the integrity of this thrift shop and they align with many of our values. They are passionate about assisting those who are in need in our community — they donate many items directly to homeless shelters, the food bank, etc. 

VOLUNTEERING

The best way to volunteer is to come to our Women’s Group which runs every Wednesday from 1-3pm in The Storehouse. 

Refreshments & snacks are provided, children are welcome & you do not need to sign up - just drop in whenever works for you. This is a great way to build community & organize The Storehouse together!
